    In the Autonomous Region of the Azores there are specific support services for people with dementia and their caregivers. In addition to the Alzheimer Açores Association, it may be helpful to consult other services available in the region.

    Gabinete do Cuidador Informal
    Located at the health centre for your area of residence, it guides caregivers in identifying the most suitable solutions, including recognition of the Informal Caregiver Status and requesting caregiver respite. More information: apoioaocuidador.azores.gov.p
    Social benefits and supplements
    Including support for nappies and incontinence pads, can be requested through the Azores Social Security Institute or the Integrated Citizen Support Network (RIAC). More information: https://www.seg-social.pt/
    Regime Jurídico do Maior Acompanhado

    Programa Novos Idosos

    A wristband with an emergency code to help locate disoriented or unconscious adults. More information: Estou Aqui Adultos
    Serviço de Teleassistência
    A remote support line offering 24/7 telephone assistance with an emergency wristband or pendant; free of charge for people on low incomes. More information: Cruz Vermelha – Teleassistência
    Plataforma Regional de Produtos de Apoio
    Provides the Regional Assistive Products Bank for the loan or rental of assistive products, and the Assistive Products Allocation System, which provides for the free and universal allocation of assistive products. More information: SAPA-RAA
    Rede Regional de Cuidados Paliativos
    Support aimed at people with serious, progressive or terminal illness and their caregivers, in hospital units or at home. Referral must be made by the family doctor or by the hospital services.
